Mizan ("the app") is a local-first personal budgeting app published by Osara Book. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the app handles and how it is stored. It is written to apply to all users globally, on both iOS and Android.
Summary
- Your budget data stays on your device. Mizan does not operate a cloud backend for your budgets, transactions, envelopes, sinking funds, debts, notes, or preferences.
- No analytics, no advertising identifiers, no crash reports are collected inside the app.
- We do not sell or share your data with anyone.
- No account is required to use Mizan. There is no sign-in, no email, no password.
Data stored on your device
Mizan stores the information you enter — including transactions, envelope allocations, sinking funds, debts, payment history, notes, and app preferences (language, currency, theme) — in a local SQLite database inside the app's sandbox on your phone or tablet.
This data is not transmitted to Mizan servers as part of normal app use. The app does not contain network libraries that would allow it to send your data anywhere — a continuous-integration check enforces this on every build.
Data we do not collect
Mizan does not require an account. The app does not collect:
- Name, email address, or phone number (unless you voluntarily email support)
- Location data (GPS, IP-based, Wi-Fi, or cellular)
- Contacts, photos, calendar, microphone, or camera access
- Device advertising identifiers (IDFA / AAID) or analytics profiles
- Bank credentials, card numbers, or financial account data — Mizan never links to your bank
Optional tips (iOS only)
On iOS, you may optionally leave a tip through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Tips are consumable purchases — they do not unlock any feature, content, or premium tier inside Mizan. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple; Mizan does not receive your payment card details, billing address, or Apple ID.
Apple's privacy policy applies to that transaction. Mizan does not use tips to identify you or to link tips back to your budget data.
Third-party services
Mizan is intentionally designed without third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, attribution tools, or crash-reporting frameworks. The only platform service that may use the network is Apple In-App Purchase, and only when you actively choose to leave a tip on iOS.
Backups and device transfer
Your budget database lives inside the app sandbox. Mizan is configured to opt out of cloud backup where the operating system allows (for example, iCloud Backup on iOS and Auto Backup on Android). If you uninstall the app, restore your device, or lose it without a local backup, your Mizan data cannot be recovered — there is no cloud restore button to press.
Security
Mizan relies on your device's operating-system sandbox to protect the on-device database from other apps. In the current version, the database is not encrypted with an app-level passphrase, so it is important to protect your device with a strong passcode or biometric lock. We recommend keeping your operating system up to date.
Children's privacy
Mizan is a general personal-finance tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us using the address below.
Your rights
Because Mizan does not collect or process personal data on our servers, there is no central record about you for us to access, correct, port, or erase on your behalf. You retain full control over your own data on your device. To delete all Mizan data, simply uninstall the app.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes meaningfully. The "Last updated" date at the top will change accordingly. Continued use of Mizan after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
